  • Graduate in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada, Spain (1997)
  • Graduate Certificate in Community Interpreting (GCCI) at Dublin City University, Ireland (2004)

Work Experience

  • In 1997, Alda Gomez started her career as an in-house translator for a software localisation company based in Dublin affiliated to Edits International.
  • In 1999, Alda Gomez became self-employed and started to offer translation services, trading as Arraianos S.L. in Spain.
  • In 2002, EchoTrans was created when Alda Gomez decided to move her translation services from Spain to Ireland.
  • In 2004, EchoTrans began to offer consecutive and community interpreting services.

 

Professional Involvement

  • Alda Gomez is a professional member of the Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association (ITIA).
  • Alda Gomez is an active member of the ITIA. She has contributed articles to the association's bimonthly bulletin.
  • She is also a member of the ITIA's Interpreting Subcommittee, which is actively committed to improving the quality of the community interpreting profession in Ireland.

 

Co-authoring

  • Code of ethics for community interpreters (ITIA). Alda Gomez was part of the team who drafted the current code of ethics of the Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association introduced in 2009.
  • Working with an Interpreter is Easy (Spirasi). Alda Gomez played a major role in the drafting of the self-directed training package for health professionals, launched in 2009.
